We believe that that the secrets of a successful dental practice are high clinical standards, professionalism and value for money.

We try to ensure that we are at the forefront of dental care by Training, peer review, membership of professional organisations, attendance at meetings, regular contact with colleagues in dentistry and other allied health professions.

Dr Gilmartin is a member of the British Dental Association.

Dr Gilmartin is secretary of the Local Dental Committee which is the committee that represents local dentists. Dr Gilmartin was delighted and honoured to be selected by his professional colleagues.

We will be putting up our various policies on the website and hope to have these all up by the end of this month (September).

Courses attended and Verifiable Continuous Professional Development (CPD) achieved in 2009 by members of staff at MK Dentalcare include:
1.  Radiation protection
2.  Handling Complaints
3.  Cross infection Control
4.  Sterilisation of Instruments
4.  Patient Confidentiality
5.  Root Canal Treatments
6.  Medical Emergencies in dental practice
7.  First aid certificate (4 day course)
8.  Dental Health Education in Dental Practice
9.  Clinical Record Keeping.

We have always believed that training and continuous personal development are the basis of a successful Professional Career. We believe that it is not just the Dentists and Hygienists but also the Dental Nurses and Receptionists too.

We value continuous professional development and one of our nurses recently passed the NVQ level 3 in Dental Nursing and received a merit award (one of only 42). Two of our nurses, who are already qualified Dental Nurses, have just been awarded the Dental Radiography certificate from Bristol University, one of them has just qualified as a dental Radiographer after getting the best mark in her written exam for the Dental Radiography Certificate.

Two of our team have just won major prizes. One of our nurses was awarded the highest prize for achievement in her Dental Nurse Training by Buckinghamshire Health Authority. This competition was open to all Dental Nurses. This was the first time in 8 years that this prestige prize has been awarded. In addition David was awarded the top prize by The British Dental Association (Milton Keynes) at the end of a recent Post Graduate Education program. Continuous Professional Development is compulsory for all dentists and the prize was hotly contested over 30 local dentists who took part.

We are now a Recognised Dental Practice for Dental Nurse Training, and at the moment have 3 nurses who are with us for part-time work experience every week. Our practice offers the chance to use the latest equipment and work with the most modern materials, and in addition we also have a very close working relationship with the local Dental Specialists. In the last 5 years or so we have had 3 trainee Dental Nurses qualify after doing their work experience with us.

Since qualifying three of our dental nurses have qualified as Hygienists. These were girls who worked with us and left us to go directly to dental school.

We have regular training and attend courses on various aspects of dental care. We have just had life support certificates. In addition 3 of our nurses recently received their "First Aid At Work" certificates. This is a four day full time course. Sid has just qualified as a Dental Radiographer.

In addition we maintain close relationships with our local colleagues and Local Specialists. We believe that this represents the most important aspect of training and development.

Recently the GDC brought out new standards and we are proud of the fact that we already achieve these already.

Dr Gilmartin is a member of the British Dental Association and various other dental bodies.

Recently Mr. Gilmartin has attended courses that included lectures on dental design and periodontal disease, Root canal therapy, as well as a refresher first aid course, and refresher resuscitation course.

We want our patients to feel welcomed by Our receptionist who sits behind the lovely solid beech reception desk.

The waiting room is decorated in warm colours. There is comfortable seating, with couple of high back chairs too. There is a TV which we find most patients prefer.

David's surgery is large and bright, with the latest equipment. This surgery is always admired by dentists when they visit the surgery, as everything is close at hand, yet hidden away.

Cross infection control was at the heart of our surgery planning.
