How much does treatment cost? The cost depends on exactly what is done. Please have a look at some examples. We always give each patient a Written Itemized Treatment Plan. The minimum charge you will pay is the cost of an examination (£25 for a new patient, £20 for a regulars patient). Most of our patients see the Hygienist every 3 or 4 months for a simple scale and polish and the charge is £20 (£22 on a Saturday). |
How do I change my dentist? Quite simple. You find a new dentist and make an appointment. It is a good idea to let the old dentist know you will not be returning, and almost all dentists like a short note to say thanks. |
Are charges for emergency treatment more expensive? We charge the same fees whenever you come to see us. Patients are often worried about the costs and we believe that it is not just professional but good business practice to be honest and up front about charges. We always give each patient a Written Itemized Treatment Plan. We have no hidden charges. |
Do I have to be a patient already to call you out of hours? No. We welcome new patients all the time, and indeed several dentists rely on our Emergency Dental Care especially when the official services are finished or unavailable. |
What's the difference between NHS and Private Treatment? How long is a piece of string? To understand the difference you need to be a fly on the wall when dentists are talking. |
How often should I have a check up? It really depends on your risk factors. Some need to be seen every 6 months and some every 24 months, but experience suggests that most patients should see the dentist at least every 12 months. If the patient sees the hygienist frequently then they will often pick up problems before they become serious. Have a look at Your first Visit to MK Dental Care. Most of our adult patients have an examination every 12 months and most of our child patients have an examination every 4 to 6 months. |
How often should I see the Hygienist? Like the interval between examinations it really depends on your risk factors. Most of our regulars have a 3 or 4 monthly appointment and this usually ensures that their mouth stay healthy. This is important as regular appointment maintain health teeth rather than having to treat pain and disease. We offer a range of Hygienist Treatments.. |

Can I come in for a chat? We welcome patients to come in for a chat. There are limits to what we can do without a full examination. Chats are usually free. |
Are you a good dental practice? We'd like to think so. We have regular and frequent NHS practice inspections and are involved in regular peer reviews and clinical audits. We are members of the BDA Good Practice Scheme. |
What's the Parking like near your surgery? Its easy and free and just outside the practice. |
Should I join your Dental Scheme? We have 2 schemes. One with an insurance component and one without. They are both great value. For more details look at: The Milton Keynes (MK) Dental Care Dental Scheme. |
What about Denplan? We see patients with Denplan cover and ensure that receipts are readily available. |
