We have had a hygienist for over 15 years.
Nur is our main Hygienist, Tina, who is a Dental Therapist as well works part-time.
Nur works 5 days a week Monday to Friday as well as two Saturdays a month.
Nur has worked at the Practice for over 14 years. We believe in continuity of care by the same dentist/hygienist.
Nur is very well qualified and has 3 qualifications, recognised by the GDC, in addition to her basic Hygienist certificate.
Post Graduate Training and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) are a key part of our overall strategy for MK Dental Care.
We are almost unique in the fact that we have a ratio of 1 Dentist : 1 Hygienist. This is as a result of our solid reputation for High Quality Care and Outstanding Value for Money.

Over the last ten years there has been a growing body of evidence linking periodontal disease and systemic diseases. The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) states "Gum disease is a threat to your oral health. Research is also pointing to possible health effects of periodontal diseases that go well beyond your mouth."
Most of our new patients come to us with active gum disease, complaining of Bleeding Gums and Bad Taste. Most have never been shown how to look after their mouths.
We provide Oral Hygienist instruction in a specially designed room. This is
done for free and as and
when the need arises. We never think that this is
a
once and for all thing and patients are regularly helped to improve their home
dental care.

Free Fresh Breath Consultations
Our Hygienist uses the latest equipment that provide the highest standards of results as well as the highest quality .
We offer free fresh Breath consultations where we will do a simple test of your breath. We will then happily discuss the causes and solutions.
Many patients come with a combination of problems and for some we do the very latest "Antibiotic Gel" Treatments, Studies have shown that this treatment for the most severe cases is both quicker and more effective. We do about 3 a week and the results have been outstanding.
Our Dental Charges vary depending on the length of the visit and the nature of the treatment. An Itemized Treatment Plan is always given to our patients and this will outline the number of visits and the cost of each visit.
Your
teeth will be cleaned gently with a specially developed device. A spray of air,
sodium bicarbonate and a water jet meet to quickly and painlessly remove
bacteria, plaque and soft deposits from interproximal spaces and smooth surfaces
of the teeth.
The Jet wash Method removes stains but will not whiten your teeth in the same way as Tooth Bleaching.
Ingredients are dispensed at a comfortable temperature and have a nice taste.
The Jet wash method is much faster, more thorough than toothpastes and non-abrasive as we clean the teeth without any contact with their surface. Sodium crystals at a high speed meet the surface to remove plaque.
A water jet washes off all cleaned deposits and corrects the temperature of the teeth. So it is possible to remove all the plaque you would have to clean at home for several weeks.
Appointment Times and Charges
Our Dental Fees offer Outstanding Value For Money and 3 Monthly visits for a simple scale and polish are £20.00 on weekdays and £22.00 on Saturdays.
Appointments are sometimes very hard to get especially early Morning, late evening and Saturdays. We work a 3 month cycle for most patients and the cost of an hygienist visit for the overwhelming majority of our regulars is £20.00.

Our Hygienist and Dentist have both been working at the practice for over 14 years. Our policy is to provide continuous care. Patients appreciate seeing the same dentist and hygienist.
We have accepted an NHS contract to treat children only. We are only be able to treat children under 16 years old on the NHS. We will accept all children irrespective of whether we see anybody else in their family. All we ask if that the children and their parents are motivated, capable and committed to life-long high standards of dental health. We will continue to accept all other patients on a private basis.
Patients usually pay for their treatment as they go along. However we now have a scheme for patients who wish to pay monthly. The cost is £8 a month.

We value continuous professional development and one of our nurses recently passed the NVQ level 3 in Dental Nursing and received a merit award (one of only 42). Two of our nurses, who are already qualified Dental Nurses, have just been awarded the Dental Radiography certificate from Bristol University, one of them has just qualified as a dental Radiographer after getting the best mark in her written exam for the Dental Radiography Certificate.
Two of our team have just won major prizes. One of our nurses was awarded the highest prize for achievement in her Dental Nurse Training by Buckinghamshire Health Authority. This competition was open to all Dental Nurses. This was the first time in 8 years that this prestige prize has been awarded. In addition David was awarded the top prize by The British Dental Association (Milton Keynes) at the end of a recent Post Graduate Education program. Continuous Professional Development is compulsory for all dentists and the prize was hotly contested over 30 local dentists who took part.
We are now a Recognised Dental Practice for Dental Nurse Training, and at the moment have 3 nurses who are with us for part-time work experience every week. Our practice offers the chance to use the latest equipment and work with the most modern materials, and in addition we also have a very close working relationship with the local Dental Specialists. In the last 5 years or so we have had 3 trainee Dental Nurses qualify after doing their work experience with us.
We are delighted to welcome a new member of our team. Tina is going to be working with us as an Hygienist. She will be working on Saturday to begin with and will be in addition to Nur, our existing Hygienist.
Tina is an experienced hygienist. She commented after her first day how well trained and friendly our team was. She said she was particularly impressed with our emphasis on prevention and the high quality of knowledge of our Nursing staff.
Tina also remarked that our prices for tooth brushes etc were in her experience unbeatable. She also said complimented us on our exceptionally high standard of cross infection control. She said normally when an hygienist starts in a new job she has to make a few changes, however she found we already had all the materials she needed to do 1st class hygiene work.
We now have 3 qualified Dental Nurses. We believe that this reflects the high importance we attach to training and professional development.
